Everything you might want to know about Barking Dragon and its tools. Can't find your answer? Ask us on Discord.
🚀Getting Started
Barking Dragon is a growing suite of free tools for tabletop role-playing games — built for players, dungeon masters, and storytellers. It started as a Discord bot for a single home campaign and grew into a full toolbox.
Nope. Everything runs right in your browser — just open a tool and start using it. No sign-up, no login required.
The core tools are free to use. A few advanced tools are marked Premium and may be paid in the future, but the everyday loot, table, and homebrew tools are free.
💰The Treasure Vault
Your homebrew items and custom tables are saved locally in your own browser. That means they stay on your device and aren't uploaded anywhere — but it also means they won't automatically appear on a different device or browser. Use the Save File / Export buttons to back them up or move them.
Yes — clearing your browser's site data will remove locally saved items and tables. We recommend exporting anything important using the Save File button so you always have a backup you can re-import.
By default, loot is pulled from the official D&D 5e SRD collection — over 260 recognizable items. In the generator's Item Sources options you can also switch on two extra libraries: Barking Dragon Originals (our own collection of 225 hand-crafted items) and My Items (anything you've made yourself). Turn on as many as you like and they'll all mix into your results.
A collection of 225 original magic items we wrote ourselves — each with its own name, effect, and flavor. They're an optional source you can toggle on in the generator's Item Sources options to blend our homebrew in alongside the SRD.
Absolutely. Anything you create in the My Items tab can be folded into generated loot, hoards, and custom tables — just switch on My Items in the generator's Item Sources options.

Please do! Feature requests on Discord directly shape our roadmap. The ideas we hear most often tend to move up the list.
We ship new tools and updates regularly. The best way to keep track is the roadmap, and announcements go out in the Discord the moment something new is live.
🛠️Using the Tools
